When he gets the note, John spends a week thinking about whether or not to tell him or to brush it off. Jon knows about his past, Jon has...
Well, he's stood up for John in ways no one ever has. And he doesn't want to put Jon in a position where he feels like he has some kind of choice to make. He'd be sticking himself in the situation if he did that, and while he stands by Dahlia without question? He's not, he refuses to get petty.
So, after a week, he decides to handle it the way he handled talking to Laios that first night: be honest, be clear, and in addition to that be fair.
We met at the celebration for Celestine. He tried to warn me off because of his beef with Dahlia. I told him I wasn't worried. I'm close with two of her partners, you and me are friends, and I said as much. I don't give a flying fuck about his issues with Dahlia, or hers with him. I truly don't, and maybe I'm an idiot but I honestly believed they had a personal problem with each other. I wasn't, and I am NOT, choosing sides.
I will never forget what he said to me. Some crap about hating Dahlia, being friends with him would piss her off, and then?
"As much as I trust and adore Jon, his word alone is not enough to convince me that I should trust any of Dahlia’s toy soldiers." Verbatim.
Last night was the first night I was able to sleep without either nightmares or waking up for watch or count before I remembered where I was.
Moral of the story is that he's a dick. That's all. I'm not nursing a grudge, I'm just afraid ofI'm scaredI'm trying to be I just want to keep my head on straight. I've got too much to lose now, I can't let myself go to pieces.
So if you come to visit Helga, you better come visit me, too. I'll even send you home with some teas I've been working on. Your British-ness is a bad influence on me.
